In order to strengthen the American Claim that the border was at Rio Grande, the United States commander of Texas, Brigadier General Zachary Taylor, took up the initiative of sending troops to the river in order to construct Fort Texas by the month of March, in the year 1846. Further, it was on May 3rd, when the Military artillery group inaugurated a weeklong bombardment, killing two people which included the Fort’s commander, Major Jacob Brown. Immediately, after hearing to the gun sound, Taylor took up the step to make a move of his 2400 army people for the fort’s aid but at some point of time he was seized by the force of 3400 Mexican people commanded by General Mariano Arista.
